2008' Accord 2.4L Performance Upgrades?

Hello:
anyone out here know of any good performance upgrades for an 2008'
Accord with the 2.4L engine?
would like to have your input.

You want performance? Why not just swap out and put in a 268-hp,
3.5-liter V-6, iVTEC with the six speed manual tranny?

Gone are the days of removing the hubcaps and air cleaner to hike up
your coolness level - unless you count removing the exhaust system and
putting a coffee can in it's place.

It's a shame that those idiot engineers at Honda don't have a clue.
Sending out those crappy cars that some high school dropout has to tune
up to make them worth driving.

how about selling it and buy a NSX... bwahaha..
i wouldn't want to mess with a brand new car, and i have no idea about
what under the hood of a 2008 Accord

if you want some fun just take off the pipe connecting the airbox
resonator and the air cleaner housing. That'll increase the air flow
but then the engine will be drawing warm air from the engine
compartment, so the net effects on performance could be zero. The ECU
might set the "Check Engine" light if oxygen/fuel mixture ratio gets
out of hands, but it's not likely. In this case, resetting the ECU is
necessary for it to learn the new air intake settings and adjust the
injections accordingly.

Doing so gives the engine a loud exhaust note when it's under load.
It's fun and it's better than doing short ram intake. Most of all,
it's reversible. Put the pipe back in if you don't like what you see,
and don't forget to reset the ECU if it's bitching.

But seriously, i can only suggest using synthetic oil..

cheers

you have a point there. back in the good old wishbone suspension days,
you could kinda-sorta get by with a lower power honda engine because of
superior handling and not having to slow down as much in the twisties.
but now, since honda have headed down the macpherson suspension road,
the handling advantage has gone, and the comparative lack of power is
much more evident. look at subaru - the wrx sti has 305hp right off the
showroom floor.

honda? the s2000 is a great car, but it's small and doesn't masquerade
as a family car, something many successful "weekend warrior" performance
vehicles like subaru and the euro-hatches do. honda need the s2000
motor in a 4wd version of the fit. that might even re-gain them the
sport compact crown honda _gave away_ back in 2001 when they went
macpherson.

Nice, that would be useful to tow the boat. Not sure what else it would
be useful for unless you lived in Nevada and took a run down the salt
flats full speed before the explosion.

Maybe an image choice ot be the "family car" market type, or for
people who have had the kids leave for college?

Also the worries about fuel standards?

I guess my sarcasm was lost on some. Oh well<g>

Point was that you have a guy with 2008 car. Perhaps he bought it new,
perhaps not. In any case we know he came into possession of it, by his
own free will, in the past seven months or so.

If he wanted performance, why the hell did he buy a 2.4L car. Now he
wants to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. You want performance,
buy performance. You want to tweak a performance car, that's one thing.
This is entirely another.

It's one thing to tune up a ride if you know what you're doing. If you
have to ask such an ambiguous question - as did the OP - it's pretty
obvious that they're going to have a problem down the road...

Well, you could always wait until they start making a turbo kit for the
new 2.4L Accord OR you can find someone who will custom make one for
you. Other than that, the only true "performance" upgrade would have
been to go with the 3.5 V6 OR purchase a totally different car all
together! I hate to break it to you buddy but you don't exactly have a
performance car on your hands.

eh? weight for weight, which has the better 1/4 mile - a 300 hp car or
a 200 hp car? and subaru win rallies all over the world with this
vehicle - hardly possible if it can't handle that output.

Great, and I would love to have a 1001hp bugatti veyron, but other than
the best 1/4 mile ever (street racing=illegal+deadly) or running rallies
all over the world (you travel the world to be in rallies?)

Then what else is so much horsepower good for? Going from one stop light
to the next? Getting nailed by a state trooper on the interstate and
paying through the nose on your isurance premium? Doing a 1/4 mile
somewhere (which is illegal), towing a boat? Doing road trips with 55mph
limit on the highways? Hauling 3 very obese passengers during carpool time?

I doubt the Subaru WRX-STI clutch and transmission are designed to handle
TOWING.

and it's still only a 2.5 liter motor.

braked trailer - 1200kg, unbraked - 750kg. 1200 = 2640lbs.

i lived in europe for a while and over there, lots of people run
trailers with their tiny little 1300cc fwd econoboxes. and nobody seems
to have much of a problem with it. the thing about trailers here is
that they're unbraked - that's much more of a problem than worrying
about whether the vehicle will make it up the hill. we have this odd
concept of it being essential to drag up a hill without changing gear.
the europeans don't, and frankly, i think the euros are right on that one.
