30K service question
Mine is Honda Civic 2005 VP. Conntacted to local Honda dealer (Central TX).
Still under extended warranty backed up by onda for 120K miles. Via phone, they informed me that there are more things need to be done (a long list of things that I could not find from the Honda Maint Book) and the price is 479.00 to 499.00 + taxes? Any one has any idea what this dealer gets me into? Thanks. P.S.: Oil filter and oil had been changed at its 29K mileage. Can I change air filter by myself? If so how? :-) I just try my best to save the cost of maint and whichever taks that I can't do the nI will let the Honda dealer do them. -- Message posted via CarKB.com http://www.carkb.com/Uwe/Forums.aspx...-cars/200704/1 |

Here is your scheduled maintenance for either "Normal" or "Severe" operating
conditions Maintenance Schedule for Normal Conditions (Without CNG) 30,000 miles/ 48,000 km/ --- Service at the indicated distance or time, whichever comes first. This Maintenance Schedule outlines the minimum required maintenance. For Canada models, use the Severe Conditions Maintenance Schedule. Do the items in parts A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H as required for the mileage/time interval listed. NOTE: According to state and federal regulations, failure to do the maintenance items marked with an asterisk (*) will not void the customer's emissions warranties. However, Honda recommends that all maintenance services be done at the recommended intervals to ensure long-term reliability. o Replace engine oil, every 10,000 miles (16,000 km) or 1 year. o Engine oil capacity-D17A1 engine without oil filter: 3.0 L (3.2 US qt), D17A2 and D17A6 engines without oil filter: 3.3 L (3.5 US qt). o Rotate tires, and check tire inflation and condition, every 10,000 miles (16,000 km). o Follow the pattern shown in the Owner's Manual. o Inspect and adjust drive belts, every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 2 years. a.. Look for cracks and damage, then check belt deflection by pushing on it about 98 N (10 kgf, 22 lbf) midway between the pulleys. b.. Alternator belt: 85-11.0 mm (0.33-0.43 in.).. c.. P/S pump belt: 130-16.5 mm (0.51-0.65 in.).. d.. A/C compressor belt: 85-11.0 mm (0.33-0.43 in.).. o Replace dust and pollen filter, every 30,000 miles (48,000 km) or 2 years. a.. Re: 30K service question
Heh... Since you're considered a "northerner" by us folk down heeyah..
I think you should look to a reputable independent garage. Sounds like they (the dealer) is out to empty your pocketbook which by the way, is how they make their real profit (service). Re: 30K service question
Elmo's right on target here. Ask 'em to prove "it's broken" and if so,
why it ain't covered under warranty... JT Newhope via CarKB.com wrote: > I strictly follow which things need to be done based upon the manual book > said. > I keep in mind your adive. A familiar story! I took my 06 Accord I4 coupe in for its 15k (Maintenance Minder) service and the service type presented me with three option running from $150 to almost $400.00. I pointed out that the $150.00 minimum service fulfilled the Honda service outlined in the owner's manual wherein they intimated that it was really was a minimal service. My comment was that I would stick the the Honda required service. "Gold plating" appears to be a new dealer initiative. > > Any one has any idea what this dealer gets me into? > Thanks. > > P.S.: Oil filter and oil had been changed at its 29K mileage. Re: 30K service question
First of all, thanks to Howard.
Your reply tell me ALL. :-) This morning, I took the Manual book and warranty book with me to Honda Dealer and asked them breaking down the price and labor cost which is required by the Honda required book. The price dropped from 500.00 to 150.00 plus taxes. Then after the service done, I asked them signed and stamped into my book. They are not happy with my requirement ;-) However, I just do my job. Thanks you all. tww1491 wrote: >> Mine is Honda Civic 2005 VP.
