'88 accord lx low beams not working
I have a big problem with the low beams not working. At this point I have
adjusted the high beams to point down until I fix the problem. I have checked all the fuses and didn't see any missing or burned. I just got this car and have done everything to get it on the road ASAP. This is the last thing left and I know it will not pass inspections as well. I have a manual but I cant find anything about troubleshooting this problem. Any help will be very much appreciated. |

It's in the box along the right side neer the back corner of the engine. May have a broken wire in the harness where the lamps attach. Do you have a test light or meter? bob |

Re: '88 accord lx low beams not working
My Accord book says you have sealed beam headlights. First step, make
sure the low beam filiments are not burned out. I can't find a '88 lighting wiring diagram but I did find a '85 Prelude wiring diagram. It shows both filiments on the same fuse but both high and low beams wire thru a dimmer relay. If the dimmer relay is stuck or it's coil not powered it could allow high beams only. Re: '88 accord lx low beams not working
I HAVE THAT SAME CAR AND HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM. FIRST THING TO DO IS CHECK
THAT THE LIGHTS ARE OK, YOU CAN DO THIS BY TAKING ONE OUT AND EITHER MEASURING THE LOW BEAM CONTACT'S FOR RESISTANCE. IF ITS OL IT IS BURNED OUT. MY PROBLEM WAS THE OPPOSITE, MY HIGH BEAMS DIDNT WORK. TURNED OUT TO BE THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN SWITCH. THE WIPER,LIGHT TURNSIGNAL FLASHING LIGHT SWITCH, ITS ONE BIG SWITCH THAT CONTROLS EVERY THING. TRY PLAYING WITH THE LIGHT SWITCH. IF IT IS THE SWITCH YOU CAN CHANGE IT WITH A RATCHET WRENCH, 19MM OR 3/4 INCH SOCKET, PHILLIPS SCREWDRIVER. TO TEST THE HEAD LIGHTS JUST TAKE A PHILLIPS SCREW DRIVER TO THE RETAINER RING RETENTION SCREWS, YOU ONLY HAVE TO TAKE OUT THE SCREWS ON THE TOP OF THE RETAINING RING AND BEND IT DOWN AND THE HEADLIGHT WILL COME RIGHT OUT. PLEASE BE SURE NOT TO UNSCREW THE AIMING SCREWS BY MISTAKE "dan doe" <dritanvoshtina@sbcglobal.net> wrote in message news:mazld.26610$bP2.4328@newssvr12.news.prodigy.c om... > I have a big problem with the low beams not working.
