'89 Civic dipstick ?
Picked up an '89 Civic LX last year at this time--and didn't have an owner's
manual. Haven't had a chance to order one yet. At any rate, the engine oil dipstick doesn't have 'Full' and 'Low' / 'Add' marks on it. Just two dots/holes. I'm assuming that the dot/hole furthest from the end of the dipstick means full, and the one closest to the end of the dipstick signifies low. Would this be correct? R.M. |
Re: '89 Civic dipstick ?
Between the two holes is operational range. I usually like to be pretty
close to the top, just to be safe. It would flop around, rather than sealing airtight when you reinserted it, and also gave a false reading, so the CR-V was chronically low of oil. . . Needless to say, I didn't buy the CR-V. 'Curly' |

Re: '89 Civic dipstick ?
I'll go you one better...
When the level reaches the lowest dot on the stick, you are one quart low on oil. You should be able to safely add a quart. The stick is calibrated that way. > > R.M. wrote: > > > Picked up an '89 Civic LX last year at this time--and didn't have an > owner's > > > manual. Haven't had a chance to order one yet.
