89 CRX rpm drops

Any reply or answers much appreciated and thanks in advance.

I have an 89 CRX DX. Out of the blue it started acting up. I was driving
about 75 MPH and it was doing about 3.5K RPM. It suddenly drop from 3.5K
RPM to 3RK MP and back to 3.5K RPM. Then after that it kept dropping and
popping back up at different RMPs. A little while later, I reached my
destination and I let it sit for a little and turned it off. Later that
night, I turned it back on and the problem was gone. Three days later,
driving to work(45 Minutes) and it started acting up at about 30 minutes
into it.

I've checked and there is no vacuum leak.

What else should I check?

Thanks for your help.

L

Do you have an automatic transmission?

Re: 89 CRX rpm drops

Yes it is automatic transmission and it just gave up a few days after the
original post. I was driving out of parking lot after work, turned the
corner and then the RPM dropped and for the first time, it dropped to 0 and
died. It wont start any longer. From the prior issues, I believe it is
something to do with the fuel.

I've checked the fuel filter and fuel seems to go from tank to filter and
out of the filter. I check spark plugs and they have spark. It is a single
over head cam, 1.5 engine I think.

Could this be a fuel injector problem? Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks All!
