I've seen this on a Saab I had: one of the brake caliper mounts was
loose and allowed it to move somewhat along the movement of the disk.
Whenever direction was changed, the mounting hole slop moved to the
other side of the mounting bolt -- causing a 'clunk' every time. It had
actually elongated the mounting hole.
Not sure if that's it, but certainly easily checked.
