93 Civic -- anyone have recurring axle problems?
Hello all!
I have a 1994 Honda Civic DX with 85K miles. I have replaced both front axles already and one of them is going bad again. At least, I hear clicking again when I turn. The same thing happened with my 1993 Honda Civic DX (which was stolen). I replaced both axles (one at a time) and then one of them started going bad again. Am I missing something? Or is this a recurring Civic problem? Any insight on that would be helpful. =) B~ |

all front wheel drive vehicles have this problem, it's not specific to
civic. however, 85k /is/ rather low mileage for this to be requiring a 2nd axle change. factors that can affect life include body alignment & driving style - if it's had a smash and the engine/trans is misaligned to its original position, that will make a difference. likewise, if you habitually use high power or fierce gear shifts while cornering, you can expect reduced life compared to an easier driving style. when i was younger and drove a stick, i used to wear through drive shafts much faster than i do today - i now drive an auto and don't race. I have a couple of civics that only got 35k before the axles went. Get some
with a lifetime warranty next time. Sure you pay for the install, but not for the Axles.
