94 Accord sudden mileage drop
I have a '94 accord 4-door with 145000 miles. The car runs
absolutely great, but recently the mileage has gone down 10-15% (from 28 city to 24, 33 highway to 29). I've verified this over several tankfuls. There's no noticeable difference in performance, acceleration, engine smoothness, etc. Nothing appears to have changed except the mileage. Anyone have any suggestions on what to look for? Maybe auto transmission problems; Worn torque converter, slipping bands? How's the motor compression test? Are you using the same gas,or has that 'oxygenated' gas hit your area? During a tune-up, the engine is connected to a huge computerized tester and the mechanic should be able to identify any problems with your Accord. |
