95 Ody Intermittent Check Engine Light
In the last 2 weeks the Check Engine Light came on twice without any

Gas cap, misfire, etc, are OK. On the net there seems to be a lot of discussion about 4th gear torque converter lock-ups or a longer than 1.5 second lock up tripping the ck engine light. As it is only happening at freeway speeds, it is suspicious. Two questions regarding reading the MIL flashes- 1. For 95, I need to hook up the SCS check connector. Is that something that Auto Zone would have for me to use? 2. The SCS service connector is located under the right side of the instrument panel. Just look for a two pin connector plugged into a receptacle that doesn't have any wires coming out the other end and that will be the SCS connector. To make it blink out a code, you short the connector, then turn the key to the run position (warning lights on, but don't start the engine). The codes range from 1 to 86. Let me know what you get and I'll look it up in the FSM for you. To reset it (and clear the codes), turn the key to OFF, remove the SCS connector (paper clip), and pull the 7.5 amp fuse marked "Back up (Radio)" in the underhood fuse box for 10 seconds. |

They're plugged into a 'dummy' connector to keep them in place. BTW, what shape is the tranny fluid in, and when was it changed (completely)?
