96 Accord compact spare has sidewall cut
While checkin the air pressure in my newly acquired 96 Honda Accord I
noticed that the donut emergency spare tire would not hold any air. Also traced the leak to a sidewall cut that looks like it was created from someone driving on it with little to no air in the tire. Is it possible for a full size spare to fit in the same space as the compact spare in the trunk fully inflated? Was it even an option in the in the beginning? Thanks Greyhound |

The diameter of the tire is okay, but a standard tire is far too wide to fit in the well. Also, as I understand it, you cannot buy a tire for the special rim, you must buy a complete tire and rim. Every so often I see never-been-used compact spares left in cars at the local pick-your-part. For that matter, I have a 10 years old never-been-used compact spare in the trunk of my car. I am hoping it will stay that way :-). |
