96 Civic Radio Trouble(Green plug is wrong size)

I recently got a 96 Civic EX. They didn’t have the keyless remote and
the doorlocks were "not working" so I investigated the back of the
stereo to find that the green plug was not plugged in. Thinking that
the stock stereo that was currently installed was somehow from a
different car/model with a different plug, I ordered a stereo off of
ebay. Unfortunately, BOTH stereo’s had a socket that was too small for
the green plug for the security system......Why might this be?

I also noticed that whoever had my car before wired my speakers with
Cat 3 (phone)cable. It looks like the wiring for the green plug is
intact as far back as I can tell, so I don’t think they did anything
to the security harness.

Help!

Dan

there are two green plugs, are you sure you have the right one?

I don't know what the other one is for actually.

Also, the EX/LX has different radio from DX

Ron,

I had this thought, but was unable to locate a second plug. I haven’t
torn my dash apart looking for it yet, but that’s obviously next on my
list. The one that doesn’t fit is bundled with the wiring harness for
the stereo. Where is the other located?

Originally, I thought I had a DX stereo, but the new one from Ebay is
identical (Part#) to the old so I think the stereo is ligitimately
from EX.

I’ll take a look tomorrow and let you know how it works. If you have
any other advice, please let me know!

Thanks,

Dan
