97 Prelude burning oil.
My 97 prelude goes through about 2 liters of oil every other tank of gas.
Anyone out there with a similar problem? Any one have a solution? |
Re: 97 Prelude burning oil.
Hi,
You'll have to find out where the oil is going. Burning? leaking? If leaking where? On the floor of your garage? Blue smoke at the tail pipe? valve seals, gaskets, main bearing seal? cam shaft seal? Piston rings?, etc., etc. Tony dieter wrote: > My 97 prelude goes through about 2 liters of oil every other tank of gas. > Anyone out there with a similar problem? > Any one have a solution? > > > |

A stuck one can cause TOO MUCH vapors to be sucked out of the crankcase and burned. Eventually it can cause CAT damage if left unfixed. Very cheap part and anyone can change one. After replacing the PCV valve, if the problem remains--it could be damaged rings which is a major problem. If you know how to perform what I call a compression test on each cylinder--I advise you to do it. If you don't know how to do it and don't have the proper equipment--take the car to your favorite mechanic or a Honda dealership and have them do a compression check. Also, tell the mechanic your problem and he may be able to determine the source of the problem and the solution. |
