98 Accord EXL 4 cyl questions

I have a 98 Accord 4cyl EXL w/129000 miles. the Check engine light and the
other little yellow light is on. I have checked the manual and both lights
relate to emissions it seems - one is the catalytic converter and the other
is a emission control module. performance does not seem to be affected now.

my questions are :
1. should i trust the manual or bring it to a mechanic
2. how much on average are the fixes for these problems - assuming the
manual is correct.

thanks in advance.
roger

If you can't repair it yourself, take it to a local mechanic that you
trust. If you can do the work yourself, visit a magazine shop and buy a
copy of "Import Racer" or "Honda Tuning". Both magazines will have ads for
low cost catalytic converters. Local muffler shops might also have some
great deals on low cost catalytic converters. Visit a couple of them and
compare prices.
