'99 Civic LX to EX Cluster Swap

Hey guys... My origional LX cluster is messed up so Honda says I need
to get a new one. My dad knows a guy that will sell me a complete EX
cluster for $100. Will the tach work with my car? I see there's an extra
plug not being used in my car behind it... must be what it's for eh?

Thanks for the help fellas!

Re: '99 Civic LX to EX Cluster Swap

Don't worry too much about the extra connectors. Looking at the picture
in the eBay link, the yellow connector at the bottom right is for the
SRS indicator light. The green connector to the left of it, next to the
"628" mark, is for either the cruise control indicator or the up-shift
indicator, depending on how the car is equipped.

Then looking at the left side of the photo, there are 9 holes in the
gray plastic, arranged kind of like a down-arrow. Immediately to the
right are three screws. Below the bottom screw is a dark area of the
circuit board. On cars with ABS, this location has a connector for the
ABS warning light.

Going to the top left corner of the photo, on cars with automatic
transmissions there will be a connector here for the gear position
indicator.

Top center is a 16 pin connector with signals for a number of gauges and
lights.

Those were all the connectors you don't care about. Now for the meat:

Top right has a 13 pin connector. Imagine the pins numbered from left to
right in the eBay photo. Number 8 is the wire for the tachometer, and
the wire should be blue.

You might be able to move the speedometer / odometer from your old
cluster over to the new one to retain you odometer reading.
