ABS Light in 94 Accord

Hi everyone,

I was looking to buy this 94 Accord EX, but it has a ABS Light which is on.
Does Anyone know what causes this Light to come on?

Any insight would be appreciated.

Thanks

The main reason would be that there is a problem with
some components of the ABS system. The other common
reason for the light to come on, is a failure of the
sensor that detects problems with the ABS system (this
happens a lot of the time with our fleet of tractor
trailers at work).

An ABS unit cost upwards of $1000 new. My 93 Maxima had this problem
with only 64k miles. The manufacturer wanted $1150 for a new unit. It was
$850 for refurbished unit on the internet. You should get this checked
out by a mechanic. If you cannot, then try to find the owners' manual
for this car. There should be and easy way to tell which part is broken
with a simple test( There is with the Nissan) . I would just walk away
from this though-it could get expensive.

Hondas of this vintage will blink out a trouble code on the ABS light if you
short the SCS connector.

The ABS on these cars is a disaster. Both of the ones I had ('95 Integra
and '96 Odyssey) failed prematurely and everybody I know that had one also
failed. If you would be interested in the car even if it didn't have ABS,
then it might still be interesting to you (main brakes are unaffected by ABS
failure), otherwise just walk away. The cost of repairs will be significant
relative to the current value of the car.

this year is famous for a bad abs pump. and it is expensive. to
test, pull the abs relay and jumper the two holes that a re farther
apart, the abs pump will run, if it sounds the same the whole time the
pump is shot, if it starts to growl, the pump is good. don't run it
for more than about 10 seconds.

Thanks to all those who replied, I think it is best not to look at this car,
since it can get expensive to fix.
