Accord cranks, no start
Got home from dinner and had a message from our son in Columbus a
couple hours south of here. "Dad, my car (98 Accord, 100K) turns over, but won't start. I called him and directed him to Goggle main relay Tegger FAQ, and talked him through the possibilities. After the sun went down the car started right up. He will look for someone who knows how to fix the relay . Many thanks to Tegger and all the good folks here at A.A.Honda! bob (dad) |

The relay will activate long enough to prime the fuel system (he'll hear it run) and the engine will start when he turns the key to START. Vibration will keep the relay sparking until he shuts it off, or it may run perfect depending on the cabin temperature. 'Curly' |

IMO this description of how the "smacking" temporarily solves the problem is superior to past ones. I think understanding the mechanism of this temporary solution helps folks having the main relay problem. I'm sold, anyway, speaking as someone who values clear technical writing. |
