Acura TL - Tranmission

I am considering purchasing 04 TL w/ navigation. After reading some
posts, it appears that the TL 04 engine is same (little tweaked) as 03
Type-S engine. Is this true?

Also, I found lots of posts where people are stating that their TL is
on 3rd tranny !! My 99 V6 accord needed a torque converter replaced
at 24k miles (is this related to tranny?).

Does anyone know if Acura has taken care this problem with 04 TL? This
is the one thing that will keep me from buying this car.

Thanks

The transmission problem was actually fixed for most of the 03 tl year. I
have a 03 TL Type S and have never had a problem.
