Battery discharges overnight
1993 Acura Integra
Battery is new and has been re-checked as ok. Can start car multiple times during the day, but when it is parked for 8+ hours, battery will be completely dead, no even a ddash light comes on. Doesn't sound like the alternator to me. Are they any common shorts that develop on this vehicle? Thanks. |
Re: Battery discharges overnight
Do you have an aftermarket radio? I used to have a 96 civic and the radio
was causing it, since the installer plugged the power direct to the radio instead of going thru the ignition switch. Re: Battery discharges overnight
Guessing won't fix it. Put a current meter on it and see. A diode could be
shorted in the alternator. In fact anything in the car could be causing it... Re: Battery discharges overnight
I'd go with the meter, after the obvious have been checked, glove box light,
trunk light, bla bla bla, ...........then start disconnecting things till the draw on the battery is eliminated, ,,,,,,is the belt slipping on the alternator. .........Is the shop checking the battery doing it correctly, are they checking the chargeing system? Tom is the belt slipping on the alternator "BillW" <TheDuck@pond.net> wrote in message news:Qmmgb.39$GE4.33781@newssvr28.news.prodigy.com ... > Guessing won't fix it. Re: Battery discharges overnight
Hi,
If they're doing it with honesty. Charging system/battery load test. Fully charged battery with engine shut should be ~13.2 volts or so. Re: Battery discharges overnight
Don't forget the obvious, how old is the battery?
