Bubbling Noise From Engine

Hi folks,

I'm the owner of a 2003 Honda Civic, which I've owned for one year
exactly. In the past few weeks, I've started to hear a kind of
"bubbling" noise coming from the engine on driver's side. It's more
noticeable when accelerating in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear. Does anyone know
what the problem could be - coolant needing topped of perhaps? I've
changed my oil every 4500 miles up until now (currently 24500 miles),
but haven't replaced any other fluid. Once the engine cools down, I'll
go and check all the levels. Should I be thinking of flushing the
coolant round about now, or anything?

Don't know much about cars. Can you tell?!?

Thanks in advance,

Lee

Crap - I just checked the fluids. All were fine except the oil!

There appears to be nearly twice as much oil in there as should be! The
oil mark extends about an inch above the Max mark.

I have a feeling this is what the problem is. What other problems will
this give rise to? Should I go and get it drained?

How did the oil level get to be too high? Did you (or Jiffy Lube etc.)
overfill it, or has the level increased since the last oil change?

If the level has increased, there might be coolant leaking into the oil.
In that case you probably have a thick, pale yellow emulsion of oil and
coolant in the crank case. Not a good lubricant.

I have had several oil change places overfill oil, one time enough that
I decided to siphon out the excess through the dip-stick hole.

If you are certain it is simply overfilled, drain the excess. Otherwise
drain all the oil through the drain bolt and look for creamy emulsion.
