Can I Fix The Air Conditioning Compressor This Way?
Hello:
I have a 1991 Honda Accord that is a great car, but long in the teeth now, and so I use it mostly as a beater car. The A/C clutch appears to have gone out (don't hear it click in), and it seems like they would have to pull the engine in order to replace that. Is there an el-cheapo workaround to get the A/C going? It's just too hot in South Texas in the Summer. I was thinking about having someone spot weld the clutch stator to the rotor, or something nuts like that. Is that a possible, if not altogether elegant solution? Thanks! Steven |

Here in Ohio, I was able to get a retrofit kit at the parts store to
change the Freon to R-135. You may be low on AC gas. Probably have a leak in the lower left corner of the condenser. bob (92 Accord) Steven C wrote: > > Hello: > > I have a 1991 Honda Accord that is a great car, but long in the teeth > now, and so I use it mostly as a beater car. Re: Can I Fix The Air Conditioning Compressor This Way?
an R-134 retrofit can be done at any honda dealer.
The engine does not have to be pulled to replace the compressor clutch. I would recommend replacing the Clutch and stator both if one of them is bad. a dealer shouldn't charge more than 3.5 hours of thier flat rate labor. plus probablty 275.00 in parts. <Steven C> wrote in message news:bvdf90h9d8prlo6sfc7bh43v63lntislm0@4ax.com... > Hello: > > I have a 1991 Honda Accord that is a great car, but long in the teeth > now, and so I use it mostly as a beater car. Thanks, gentlemen.
I'll go ahead and have the pressure checked first.
