Check engne light
Have a 1991 Honda Accord ... 5,600 mi., out of warranty, and really
absolutely perfect otherwise. What could cause Check engine light to come on when there are no obvious mechanical problems? Anything that I could do myself to reset the light to see if it comes back on? TIA gette |

Many of the Auto Parts Stores now have this service. They should also tell you what the code means. I can only guess that it may be something simple like the Oxygen sensor. If there was a serious problem--your car would not be running as well as it is presently running. They may also reset the light for you for free. -- NEWSGROUP SUBSCRIBERS MOTTO We respect those subscribers that ask for advice or provide advice. In my case I think that something happens for just a moment, but the light will not go off until I turn the car off. Kind of a holding circuit of some kind. Thanks, Larry |
Re: Check engne light
ecu should store the error code in its memory until its wiped

Re: Check engine light
My error ... I should have said that the light came on of itself and
stays on whenever ignition turned on and engine is running. One suggestion was to just disconnect battery for 15 min. and then reconnect to see if computer resets?? Something to do with gasoline vapor vent?? Re: Check engne light
Computers prior to OBD2 still stored fault codes and can be read out by
scanners. They also can usually be flashed out in the check engine light. Autozone can probably scan it.
