Civic 2000 spark plugs
 

Just passed by Canadian Tire and saw three different types of spark plugs,
by the price I can tell which are the best, question is are they worth it?
NGK V-Power ZFR5F-11 about 5$ for a pair
NGK G-Power ZFR5F-GP about 8.50$ a pair
NGK Iridium about 20$ a pair.
Probably going to purchase the G-Power plugs but a friend told me that I'd
make the money back on the Iridium plugs by just the gas savings, is this
true? If so I wouldn't mind dishing out 40$.

The best ones you can use for your is just regular NGK which are the
following:
DX / Si _ NGK ZFR5F-11 or Denso KJ16CR-L11
SiR _ NGK PFR6L-13 or Denso PK20PR-L13

I would call around to Cdn tire, Carquest, NAPA, others auto parts store to
price them out.
Just pick the cheapest one within reasonable travelling distance. Also I
would stay away from the dealer. I got a price for a set for my SiR $60.
WtF??

I can't make a comment about Iridium plugs. Maybe do a search on google.ca
and see what you can find.

Hi,
I have a set of Iridium on my '98 CR-V. Car runs just fine.
Been two years since I installed them. On other cars, I use
NGK Platinum plugs which caused no trouble at all.

i've got iridiums in my civic 2000. they /definitely/ help low rev
pick-up and /perhaps/ a little extra ooomph, but i'd hesitate to say
they enhance gas mileage.

the only real reason to install them is that you can leave them in there
for 100000 miles - that's a small saving on the normal 30000 mile
conventional plug change interval.

Are you still using your OEM wires or did you replace them with NGK wires
as well? I'm in the market for some new plugs but was curious what other
people were using for wires.

Based on experience (not just 'dealerspeak'), I would stay
away from Canadian Tire for ignition parts. My uncle (who
has been a mechanic for many years) once did a test on
Canadian Tire Delcos vs Piston Ring Delcos. There was a
HUGE difference, and the cost is not much different.

You have to remember that when the buyers for Canadian Tire
go out, they get their parts from the lowest bidder. There
are many factories that make NGK, they purchase a license
and pay royalties to these respective companies for the
right to manufacture and sell these components.

This could explain the difference between the CT and PR
parts.

Without sounding argumentative, how do you know if you're getting
better quality NKG plugs if you buy them elsewhere?
