civic gas gauge
Any known problems with 02 gas gauge? Mine barely moves until I have driven
about 150 miles. I hit the half way mark at about 250 and average about a total of 350 per tank. I'm about 2K away from the warranty expiring. |

Re: civic gas gauge
I have the same situation with my 2001 Civic EX coupe. I bought it used late
last year, had it checked out by a mechanic first and he said it was in great shape and I shoudn't pass it up. By the way, I didn't get an owner's manual with mine.... What does it say in the manual concerning fill-up? Re: civic gas gauge
LOL. Actually, I hadn't read the manual...but I did this morning. It says,
"unscrew the cap, fill with gas until stops, put the cap back on." I'm no rocket scientist but I think it's safe to say that I've been filling it properly. My guess is that there is something wrong with the gas gauge....which brings me back to my original question.....anyone? Re: civic gas gauge
On my 2000 Civic, I average 200+ mi in the first half and 100+ in the
later half of the gas gauge. So despite your gauge not moving till 150 miles have past, it seems to be operating normally. Not sure. Maybe my gauge has issues as well. ;) -AGS riz wrote: > LOL. The gauge doesn't start to move until after driving about 75-100 mi. The half tank mark typically yields about 260 mi. while I get about 400 from a full tank. Eric |

Re: civic gas gauge
Ok, When I fill up, I don't stop filling when it stops. I keep going til I
can't put anymore gas in there. Til i see the gas come up close to the rim. Maybe that's not the best idea? I have done this with all my cars in the past and have had no problems. Pretty much likewise for my 1991 Civic. The gauge won't move fully below the "Full mark" until 100 miles sometimes. The half tank mark is hit between 200 and 300 miles, in general. I get about 440 miles between fillups in warm weather. There's at least a gallon of gas still in the tank at most fillups, so theoretically the car could get about 480 miles per tank between fillups. |

Thanks everyone. I guess my gas gauge is working normally. Never the less, I
will continue to reset and monitor the trip odometer at every fill up! Re: civic gas gauge
I monitor my gas mileage for the same reason older people monitor their blood
pressure: It's not a bad measure of the overall health of the vehicle. So, yes, record miles between fillups, save your gas receipt to show the gallons used, and calculate mpg each time. Maybe jot it down in a notebook or on a sheet, with the month and year. "riz" <riz@nospam.com> wrote > Thanks everyone. I guess my gas gauge is working normally.
