Re: Civic'91...Alignment problem!...

I had a similar problem in my crx except that it wore the insides of both my
brand new tyres (im from new zealand, different spelling)
the problem was a cracked cross member and the wheels would change camber
angles depending on driving which ate the insides of the tyres though i dont
see how your problem would be similar but you could check the camber angles

Re: Civic'91...Alignment problem!...

a good way to test is to go around a corner about 40k (or 28mph) where there
is a small hole in the road and make the inside wheel go over the hole, you
should be able to feel if it is moving sideways, anyhow, i live in new
zealand, if you were here i could tell you a great place to get one for
about $20 or $30. try a japanese autospares place, you should get one for
around $60 - $80 i think, im sure they have them where you live, see if you
can find the crack first though, make sure it is the crossmember. otherwise
it could be another suspension part, those are the only causes im aware of.
good luck
oh and check both left and right side suspension parts against each other to
see if they are identical (eg no bends)

Civic'91...Alignment problem!...

I recently changed the rack and pinion myself (about 2 months ago), and took
it to the shop for alignment (4 wheels)!...I remember that before I was
taking it to the shop the tires got worn specially on the outer corners
(both in front), I'm afraid that just like a week ago, the alignment or
something else made my steering ( I don't know if it's the alignment) like
if there's is a "space in between", wich means that my steering plays
between feeling one side when I turn and when I go to the other one feels
likeno connection (I hope you know what I mean)!...

I change the lower bal joints (both) and the arm joints from the steering
arms!...Do you know if I anything else could be at fault?...I have seen some
people talking about bushings!..Where are those at?..Is it easy to be
changed by a DIY like me?...Any squematic on the web where I can look at
it?...How much do they cost?..

I was wondering if my car has rubber mounts on the springs (shock absorbers)
that I have to look at and change!...

Could it be possibly that the new rack and pinion was "bad" (Cardone
brand)?...How does a Civic "behaves" when the the steering pump is bad
and/or might be at fault?..

Any other inputs?..

Thank you in advance!..
