Coolant Level in New Cars
Well, I guess that I just got too much time to wonder about cars. O quite a few occassions I found that the coolant levels in th reservoirs on brand new cars are extremely low, often below the MI line. I have to visit the dealer and buy an extra gallon after buyin my '04 Accord for a few days. Since the fluids are filled up at dealership, I do not think it is harzard during shipping. I think that some times the coolant level is low in new cars because there
are air bubbles in the system (because it has just been filled for the first time) as these bubbles work there way out, the coolant level goes down.... Ron This happened in my 92 Accord when i got a new radiator a couple of months back. Those guys didn't put in enough coolant mixture and run the engine for a few minutes to get the air out. So i got a scare when my temp gauge started shooting up at low speeds / idling.
