Cost of 09 Civic ?
Hi,
Got a quote from a dealer in Pa for $18,700 for an 09 Civic LX.
That includes tax, title, and everything. They took off about $500
from sticker price.
Theye were out of 08's.
Is this a good deal? I like the car, but don't want to pay too
much, of course.
Thanks

A good deal is any deal in which you and the dealer are both happy.
$50 over the course of 5 years doesn't mean crap. A few grand?
Perhaps. If you like the car and the price is fair and they don't
have a Doc fee or similiar crap, then grab it. If not, keep looking.

Do you think there might be any benefit to looking at one of the many online
car pricing websites or perhaps purchasing a car pricing report from
Consumer Reports, do ya', huh??

That's fair for an "in demand" car at new model year release. If
you're gonna be sad in a few months when they're selling for $500 less
then wait (assuming your current ride won't cost you $500 in the
meantime).

Re: Cost of 09 Civic ?
I think the "Fit" has taken the old role of the Civic
as Honda's bottom offering. I think the jury is
still out is if they have the "Civic reliability" being
such a young model. I saw very few on the road
until this summer, when I presume Honda
finally started making them in bulk.
Meanwhile the standard Civic grows each year,
nearly an intermediate car size & price now.
Engineering improvements have keep its mileage
up there, but not as good as the older, lighter models.

Well, given that the 2nd year of the Fit (08) is really the 5th year
(I think) of the Jazz, I think we can extrapolate some numbers for
reliability.
Honda appears to have actually been surprised by the response to the
2007 Fit. When I talked to one of the local dealers in mid 2006, she
was excited and promised to call me for a test drive when the first
one came in. Well, she did call. But I had to be there at a specific
time, as she was scheduling test drives on her two cars, but only for
three days.
The 2008s are/were more available, but still in lower supply than the
demand. By the time I bought, dealers weren't getting more than MSRP.
But they weren't getting less, that's for sure.

I went from an 89 CRX to a 96 Civic EX. The Civic was "huge". Almost
as big as my wife's 89 Accord (which she traded for a 96 Accord EX at
the same time). Once I put some Tokicos on the Civic, it handled
"quite nicely". Even nicer with the R1s, but that's a different
story.
