CRV - ABS light is on

The ABS light on my 1997 CRV was coming on intermittently and now is always
on.
I did search the web for an info and most are talking about oil leak or low
level
in ABS reservoir. I looked up in the owners manual and there is no mention
about
such a place except the regular brake fluid reservoir. My brake fluid level
is OK.
I would like to do the basic checks before I am taken for a ride by a
dealer.
If there is such a reservoir where is it located and are there any other
basic
diagnostics that I can do it myself ?

Thanks.

Re: CRV - ABS light is on

On my '95 Odyssey, the ABS unit has a lot of brake hoses running to it, and
it does have a small reservoir on top. Mine failed, leaking. This does not
affect braking, except that ABS does not work. Cost for the ABS was just
under $1000 from a dealer. Yep, you heard that right. Plus labor to
install, which is not a Do It Yourself. I left it alone, as far too
expensive to repair. Your car may be different of course. Check
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/...catdisplay.jsp for a
breakdown of parts for your car to see where a reservoir (if any) may be.
