Dextron III will work in a Honda, but EVERYBODY who's ever switched their Honda tranny BACK to real Honda fluid from DEXTRON has reported MUCH improved shifting (and lifespan, I expect). 'Curly' |

Re: Dexron III ATF question
If it's speced for DEXRON II/MERCON then shouldn't it operate it's full
operating period using DEXRONII/MERCON? DEXRON and MERCON are GM and FORD specs yet they are supposedly equivalent. DEXRON III in the aftermarket is labeled DEXRON III/MERCON. It meets the MERCON spec. and his car is speced to run with MERCON (DEXRON II/MERCON). DEXRON III is supposed to meet the requirements of DEXRON II according to manufacturers. Why spend $4.75 a bottle for Honda fluid when you can get the fluid the Honda transmission is speced for at $1.60 a bottle? "'Curly Q.
