First Waxing

Hi,

When is it safe to apply the first coat of wax - way back when I remember
that the paint had to cure for about six weeks. I was told all is safe from
the moment you receive the car as the new paints don't require this. True
or false?

Thanks for any input,

George

Re: First Waxing

I waxed mine the first day I got it. If your worried about it, wait 2 months
from the manufacture date.

True. Nowadays, painting at the factory is done at very high temperatures
and does not require larger amounts of time to cure. By the time you
receive the car, it's ready for waxing. Now, if you had the car repainted
at an autobody shop, I'd wait about 60-90 days before waxing. Body shops
cannot use such high temps during painting since it could melt the plastics
around and inside the car.

Cheers,

Pete
