So adjust your driving style appropriately. The seats are flexible giving great interior space. If you do get one, and also get the all weather mats make sure they put in the hooks as per Honda instructions. |

Nice stereo. Electric steering wheel and throttle. Good gas mileage. Huge interior space considering the small outside dimensions (how about 2 adults and 2 bikes, or a 37" LCD in its box!) Ride quality is sporty/hard. Seating posture works for some, annoying for others - try it before you buy it. Excellent reliability, holds value, cheap to buy and own, small gas tank. If you like it - go for it. |

Re: Fit
Haven't seen any press releases that indicate Honda is bringing diesel to
North America... Not sure if you are in NA or not... As far as opinions on the Fit, it drove really nice, but the pedals were far to close together for someone with big feet like me, and the placement of the clutch pedal was really weird, close to the middle instead of off to the left like my civic. The seating is much higher than I am accustomed to (good thing, it makes the vehicle feel bigger), I drive a 98 civic normally. It feels like a light car, especially when cruising at highway speed. The negative factors above, plus the fact that a 5-speed civic was a lower monthly payment than a Fit due to more attractive financing rates, we went with the 2008 civic LX (canadian trim gives you everything except fog lamps, sunroof and leather seats). Fuel economy is almost identical between Civic and Fit, so if you don't need the hatchback functionality (which is very limited unless you fold the seats down, our baby stroller barely fit in the back with the seats up), civic is the way to go. t Jim Higgins wrote: >> sapper <ksmathoda@gmail.com> wrote in news:553c42bc-0eef-47a7-88b7- >> 1accc9be5d86@r60g2000hsc.googlegroups.com: >[quoted text clipped - 13 lines] >> for others - try it before you buy it. The only thing I'd add is that the Fit has a choppy ride compared to the Civic in a back-to-back test drive... I went with the '08 Civic LX also. John |
Re: Fit
did you drive the sport or the DX? Tires make a big difference.... I found
the ride to be similar, except the Fit did feel much 'lighter' at highway speed. On the highway the choppy ride wasn't as noticeable as it was on the surface streets--which could be due to the highway being generally smoother than the surface streets around here. By choppy I refer to the sensation that the car was bobbing up and down as it encountered typical irregularities in the road (not big holes!). I agree the Fit felt a bit lighter on the highway. I anticipated acceleration to be weak but with just me in the car it was more than adequate. John |
