FS: 1986 Honda Prelude

I have a 1986 Honda Prelude for sale. It's a 1.8 liter dual carburetor
engine with a 5 speed transmission. It's a fast car that's fun to drive.

Body is in good shape with a few small spots of surface rust, no rot.
195,000 miles on the car, 90,000 on the engine and 10,000 on the axles and
clutch. Interior is in good shape.

It needs new rear brake shoes, the exhaust pipe from the manifold to the cat
converter needs to be replaced as it leaks, and it needs some front end work
(replace ball joints and tie rod ends).

The exhaust from the cat converter on back was recently replaced (about a
year ago I believe) and is like-new. I drove the car for about a month and a
half and had no trouble except the loose steering from the front end.

The car passed emissions, however failed on safety for loose suspension
components on the front passenger side. After I first took it to be
inspected the exhaust developed the leak, and the rear brakes ought to be
replaced as there isn't much left on them.

I am selling it because I came upon a friend with an Olds Calais (5 speed
actually), which is a bigger more comfortable car for me, seeing as how I'm
just shy of 6'4" tall. The Honda was only intended to be a temporary car to
get me through the winter until I had some money and it was warm out so I
could put a new short block into my '68 Galaxie 500. The Prelude was not too
comfortable for long drives since I didn't fit in it too comfortably, and
unfortunately most of my driving was long highway miles. Point being, if the
Olds never came along I would have fixed the Prelude and put up with driving
such a small car until warmer weather to fix my Galaxie. Anyway, that
Prelude is pretty darned quick with those dual carbs. 1.8L is a small engine
for a guy used to big Fords but the car is light and has good gearing. That
engine will keep on revving and pulls strong. I always laughed at foreign
cars, but driving that Prelude gave me a little respect for them. It's a fun
car to drive, and surprisingly fast.

I'm asking $450/obo. Basically I would just like to get what I have into it
so far and want it out of the driveway as it's not being used and I have no
plans to do anything with it. It's located in Westmont, NJ 08108 (15 minutes
from Philadelphia). If anyone is interested e-mail me at cadnews@verizon.net
or call me any time at 856-869-8120, if I'm not home leave a message and
I'll get back to you ASAP.

Cory
