Has anyone noticed the name of the CEO of Honda?? The makers of SHITcars!!!
 

Takeo Fukui is his name. I think they put the i in the wrong place, it
should be iu or "i fuk u"
I have two Honda vehicles one is a 2000 Van and the other is a 97
accord. Both of them are the biggest piles of crap I have ever owned.
The Transmission was replaced twice in the accord since I bought it
three years ago. The van transmission has been replaced 3 times under
warranty and twice since out of warranty. The van side power doors
don't work for a either. They were fixed 4 times while under
warranty and 2 more times since out of warranty, that's each door. On
top of all that the accord has a bad (Really bad!!) vibration that
comes and goes and no one can seem to figure out what it is. I have
been to numerous places and they all have a different story and want
to charge me money to fix things and it never gets fixed. I have
replaced half shafts more than once on both sides; main carrier
bearings that the half shafts slide into have been replaced. Replaced
the tires and front wheel bearings and also replaced motor mounts.
Nothing has fixed it. The van has a similar problem only it is
constant and it is only around 80MPH that it gets really bad. Honda
East in Columbus Ohio had it several times and all they ever did was
balance my tires. They told me they couldn't drive the van at 80MPH to
test drive and see what I was talking about. So after convincing them
to let me drive them at 80MPH so they decided to pull a fast one on me
and change my speedO so that when I am going 80MPH according to my
speedO I am actually only going 72MPH. At that speed you can hardly
notice the vibration. So this is how Honda takes care of its
customers? On the van I have also replaced bearings, and half shafts.
So all I can think of is this CEO over there in Japan laughing at all
of us while he makes millions off us here in the US. I have owned
quite a few cars in my 40 years and never had money pits quite so
deep. Not even my high school hotrod cost me this much money and time.
I have lost all faith in Honda and would suggest to anyone even
thinking about buying a Honda to reconsider and think of your options
first. Not only about the cars but the service too.

So you've got some well used cars-- one 8-9 model years old the other
11-12 --- and you're having trouble. Your frustration is understandable but
the lack of reliability you describe is most unusual for Hondas, the most
reliable cars sold in the US--- even for ones as old as yours...

Thats what I thought too. I understand they are old butI bought the
van when it was new. It has been nothing but a nightmare! I maintain
them very well and do nothing but dump money in them both.

Be careful when you say "maintained very well". I had a 1991 Accord
that was maintained by the dealer at appropriate intervals. I was very
meticulous about that. One time I went for oil/filter change. I paid
but oil and oil filter did not get changed. They claim it was a mix-
up. I guess back then their work order processing wasn't as
computerized as today. A year later the car developer a vibration.
Took it in. The shop foreman suggested I change one of the half
shafts, claiming hey it's under warranty. No cost to you. I OKed it.
Vibration did not disappear. I balanced the tires at some ma/pa shop
and the vibration went away. A year later I noticed that tranny fluid
leaked out of the half shaft that was replaced. They claimed the
gasket was bad. They replaced the gasket. Less than a year later same
problem. Well over the years, I became a mechanic. I took the problem
half shaft out. inspected the casing, and noticed that the housing
through which you slide the half shaft in place has been nicked.
There's no way this can be sealed properly any more. I have many
incidents as such. I have stopped going to the dealership for small
jobs such as vibrations, oil changes, regular maintenance etc. These
little problems should all be solved by yourself. Even if you get an
engine warning light on, you can figure out what it means and decide
what to do. If parts to be replaced are rusted out so that you need a
torch to cut them off, then I can understand one needing to go to a
dealer. Other than that you're risking shoddy work. Even best
mechanics rush sometimes. Longevity in cards is like marriage. Small
problems make it. Big ones break it. Honda makes best machinery.

I do all the maintenance myself, oil changes, brakes, timming belt,
tune-up ect... Always have since I was 16. And you are right I don't
trust them. I only bring it to a shop for the big jobs like pulling an
engine or trans, that I don't want to mess with. So yes well
maintained.
Since the speedo problem I have not brought it back to the dealer. I
found a local shop that has a few guys that seem to know what they are
doing.
Funny, I had the same problem with the leak in the trans. Pulled the
shaft out and it was all chewed up. So I replace the half shaft and
the bearing and seal on both sides. Still have the vibration.
That's with new tires, and had them rebalance them after all the trans
work. Still has a vibration. It's freakin crazy!!
I would really love to hear from someone that knows how to work on
those van doors. I am tired of paying to have them fixed and then
break again. It's almost $400 a door to have them fix it.

Hmmm,
No matter what, any Japanese cars are better than any made by big 3.
Been driving Honda, Subaru, Suzuki, etc. Never gave us a fit.
If big 3 worked hard in the past 40 years or so to improve their
products they wouldn't have lost market share to off shore companies.
What a pity. Say my Honda CRV never had any trouble other than timing
belt replacement and a completer brake job after driving 125K miles.
Regular oil and filter change and that's it.
