High Idle problem for my 1994 Honda Passport...
 
My Passport is idling really high one minute (1500 to 2000rpm) then it goes
back to almost normal the next. When the accelerator is pressed the engine
doesn't want to return to normal idle. The throttle spring return normally
when done by hand. Has anyone else had this problem before?

Is your coolant reservoir full to the mark, and the rad full to the top?
Are you in a colder climate. Do you have to 'kick' the gas pedal in the
morning to get the vehicle to move? If so, read this post too:

Hello,
You need to repost and let us know if this happens when you first start up
your car. If it only happens after you start your car--it's a normal
sound. It's the automatic choke. The owner's manual or your automotive
repair manual may have a section related to the automatic choke.

No, you're not dumb. The link is a couple digits too long and it's also
on my ISP's server, apparently, so it may not work for lots of people.
It's just a link to your post a couple articles above the original post,
where you said:

He may have some slack in the cable, too, if he's been really kicking it
hard . . . The bracket on ours was bent, putting WAY more slack in the
cable. May need to be straightened, or just adjusted out.
