high pitched grinding 93 Accord
 

I get a high pitched grinding sound on my 93 Accord when I go over a
bump or or sometimes when turning the steering wheel. It sounds real
similiar to metal on metal when the brake pads are low. I had to have
the brakes bled about 5 months ago because the brake pedal was going
to the floor. Occasionally it seems now like I need to pump the brakes
to get the pressure back up. Any ideas. BTW I don't work on my own car
unless it's something pretty simple. TIA

It's probably related to the brakes but it's only a guess. I once had this
problem many years ago while driving a 1969 Chevy Nova. The problem was
traced to what is known as a Pittman Arm or Pitman Arm. I don't even know
if they still use such a device in Honda Accords. It is a device that
helps move the wheels when you turn the steering wheel right or left. Back
to the brakes--I wonder if your brakes need to be adjusted. It's possible
that the brakes are slightly engaged even when your foot is not on the
brake petal. This causes the brake pads to wear out very very quickly.

Thanks for the response! I'm going to check the brake pads. I may post
back if they look fine. I've already checked the brake and power steering
fluids.

Thanks for the response! I'm going to check the brake pads. I may post
back if they look fine. I've already checked the brake and power steering
fluids.
