Honda Civic Engine Swap, from 90 to 92.

Could any of you tell me if this is possible?
Take the bare Engine block from a 90 Civic, and insert into a 92 Civic
using the 92 "hardware" Intake/ exhaust/ tranny. I found out that the
gasket for 88 to 95 are essentially the same and so it should be possible?
Is it?Help?

I have never tried it. However, according to a book I have related to
Honda cars, the 1990 Honda Civic is part of the Forth Generation of Civics
(1988-1991) and the 1992 Civic is part of the Fifth Generation of Civics
(1992-1995). This means that you MAY run into some problems with the
swap. This does NOT mean that it is an impossible project. I welcome the
posts from people that have successfully made such a swap.

Re: Honda Civic Engine Swap, from 90 to 92.

Thanks Jason, I have looked at both engines and they are quite similar.
After checking some things out, it appears that in this case, all I need
to do is a head swap.(Timing belt broke and there is valve damage on the
92) Are you aware of any problems with regards to the swap between a
generation 4 and 5 heads only? I checked the specs and they appear to be
the same. I also checked the gaskets and they are the same from 88 to 95
so in theory they should be the same, right?

Is there some benefit to swapping the head? Why not just replace the bent
valves, lap them to make sure that they seat well, and be done with it.
Note that I would also replace all of the valve stem seals while you have
things apart.

Eric
