Honda Pilot
 

During recent all-day trip (Utah to Florida leg), my Honda Pilot 2003
provided loud cracking sounds leading me to believe that major destruct was
occurring someplace forward of the firewall. At times this disconcerting
racket sounded like an idler pulley disintegrating, bearings being chopped,
ground-down, etc. At other times quick, snapping sounds could be likened to
a bungee being snapped against the dash, at other times resembling the
disconcerting sounds of snapping metal rods,etc., foretelling a
heartbreaking breakdown...someplace.
Nothing! The car kept rolling beautifully. Regular inspections under the
hood, wheel wells, and under the car revealed nothing. None of this
disturbing racket occurred when car was standing; slightest movement though,
causing it to act-up once again. At times during this particular day's
driving the Pilot curiously drove nicely and quietly...no panic! Yet,
expecting the same noisy racket during the next day's driving the car was
nevertheless quite docile...not a peep, nor has there been back home
here...great! All operating criteria remain normal.
Now, how about this? The day before this trip the windshield was
replaced. Although the car moved quietly the first day of the trip, we see
that it acted-up the next, as described. Is it possible that an improperly
installed replacement windshield somehow managed to noisily realign itself
the second day as wind forces and chassis movement possibly provided?
I suppose that what I've described is not necessarily a Pilot
experience; but possessive of something in common with general windshield
replacement problems if this is indeed the answer. What ever. Comments
definitely appreciated.
