Honda Pilot - spare tire?
Does the Honda Pilot come with a full-size spare tire? My initial research
indicates not, but myabe an actual owner can confirm.
I'm concerned because I seem to recall reading somewhere that you need a
full-size spare to be allowed access to permit beaches. Anybody have
experience with this?
Thanks!

Does not have a full size spare. I bought one from someone who upgraded
their stock tires at www.hondapilot.org

If it's not full-size, it will be full-circumference, due to the AWD.
You can't mix tires of different circumference or the RTAWD will engage
continually and overheat. Same on AWD versions of the CRV, old and new.

Does your full-size spare fit OK in the space where the half-size spare
goes?

Re: Honda Pilot - spare tire?
How does the hitch relate to the tire?

Roger:
Thanks - that's scary!
I tried sending you a message at your email address below but it bounced.
Here's what I wrote:
We bought a 2004 EX after our dealer promised us that a wheel/tire from an
LX would fit. Turns out that it doesn't fit so well. They say that the
full size spare ends up being too loose. This is a big problem for us. We
love the car, but not having a full-size spare could cost us the ability to
get beach permits.
You say that your full-size spare fits. Do you have a 2004?
Thanks!!!

I am surprised! We have an 03 Pilot EX with a steel LX wheel and tire and
it fits just fine without being loose. I bought the wheel and tire through
TireRack and installed it mself -- simple process. Have had it in place now
for close to a year with no problems.
