honda promotion for checkup and oil change

Hello,
Live here in roswell/alpharetta area of georgia
and received the free 40-pt inspection+oil change
coupon.

has anyone done this? Is it worth it ?

Other than oil changes and replacing front tires,
I haven't had any other maintenance work done
on my accord 2002 lx.

Thanks for any advice

The deal is marketing. They get your car in and come up with $2000 worth of
work that "just has to be done". Of coarse if you aren't maintaining your
vehicle it may be a good thing...

I suggest that you take advantage of the special sale. If they try to tell
you that they need to replace items such as your battery, alternator,
etc--just tell them NO.

Re: honda promotion for checkup and oil change

Just after buying my 1998 Accord I brought it in for this "deal". They told
me I had a leak in my oilpan gasket. When I brought it in for service and
showed them that Honda approved the service under my certified used car
warranty this "LEAK" strangely disappeared. They also tried to sell me front
brakes.. for $250. I had the oilpan checked by my local mechanic..no leak. I
had him also do the front brakes for[rotors turned] and pads replaced for
$125. You draw your own conclusions.

Get the oil change for free and deny anything else. Later, review all the
recommendations and decide what really needs to be done and you can do it
yourself. Look at it as a free car inspection.

If you have to ask people (that you don't know) if saving money is a good
thing, you need professional help ;^)
