Ignition Key Gets Hot
I have a new 2003 CR-V.
After driving a while, when I remove the ignition key, the metal part is hot to the touch. Is this normal? Anyone else? Comments appreciated. Carl |
Re: Ignition Key Gets Hot
Hi,
I don't think so. Better check with dealer and put it on record. Sounds like there is poor connection inside the switch assembly causing the heat. It could be even fire hazard if it really gets that hot. Older CRV has recall on siwtch wiring harness for intermittent connection.(engine cuts out unexpectedly) Tony Carl wrote: > I have a new 2003 CR-V. > After driving a while, when I remove the ignition key, the metal part > is hot to the touch. > Is this normal? > Anyone else? > Comments appreciated. > Carl > > |

Apparently it has to do with the solenoid that locks the steering wheel when the igntion is off. When the ignition is on, current goes through this solenoid to unlock the wheel. And solenoids get hot. Your Honda dealer will have a bulletin on this, stating that it's absolutely normal. |
