Insurance for a Civic

Hi,
I've been looking at new cars and made sure to check the insurance
on the various models before making my final decision. I was surprised
to find that the insurance (Collision/Comprehensice) on a Civic was
twice that of a Corolla!
What is the reason for this? (I live near Scranton, PA)
Thanks

Re: Insurance for a Civic

The biggest reason I would offer an opinion as to why they are such
different costs are the demographics of operators. Out here on the west
coast, a ton of young people drive Civics of both 2 and 4 door flavors.
Most folks who drive Corollas tend to be more mature. Any vehicle that is
popular with young drivers, with exception to the Beetle, is a high cost to
insure vehicle. Another reason, is that Honda Civics are targets for theft
to a much higher degree than Corollas. In the scheme of insurance rating as
to cost to you, the Corolla is on the lower end of cost.....the Honda
towards the upper end. Go to the Insurance Institure for Highway Safety
webpage as they have info that might be better to understand.
