Lighter/Ashtray Optional Cost?

A friend told me that HIS friend refused to buy a new Honda Accord
'cause the ashtray was available only at optional cost. While I
think this is a great idea ('cause I don't want to pay for stuff I
don't use), I wonder if this is true?!? If true, how much is the
option?

I don't know how much it costs, but your buddy might have a hard time
finding this as a standard equipment. I bought my Chrysler 6 year ago and it
was an option as well. But a good salesman will give it to you for free. I
know Toyota gives you the lighter with the Highlander.

Yes, it's true. Probably around $150 installed.

Nope. When my dad got his 02 Accord, Honda wanted CAD$25 installed.

Re: Lighter/Ashtray Optional Cost?

Not quite right: The Accord has two outlets, already wired for 12 Volt
DC; one next to where the ash tray would go and one in the box between
passenger and driver. Although both "hot" neither one supports a cig.
lighter. There is an optional part/kit that converts the 12 Volt DC
outlet next to the ash tray (also optional) that converts the 12 Volt
outlet to one with the proper contacts to support a lighter. It also
includes a light for lighter and ash tray.
After the conversion the socket does double duty for lighter and any
12 Volt accessory. before the conversion, accessories work, but
lighter will not.
