looking for a driver side interior door handle part

Hi,

I have 1995 4-doors Honda Civic. A few weeks ago, on the interior
driver side of the door, I noticed a small crack on the plastic cover
which holds the interior door-handle/lock switch mechanism.
Yesterday, I pulled on the interior door-handle to get out of my car,
and the plastic cover splitted vertically.

I could still get out of my car by carefully holding the plastic cover
with my left hand and then pulling the interior door-handle with my
right hand.

I have searched the Internet to find this plastic cover (I don't know
the name of this part). So far, I have found outside door handle
cover.

Does anyone know where I could get this plastic interior handle cover?
Everything works well. It is that darn broken plastic whatever it is
called...

Thank you for your help!

Take a few tools with you and go to the local 'Pick Your Part' wrecking
yard. Phone ahead to be sure they have Hondas in your vintage.

Re: looking for a driver side interior door handle part

If you don't find what you need at the local junk yard, try
http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com If your car is a DX the part is $20.
If you have an EX or LX you are looking at $53. On top of that comes $5
in handling and another few bucks for shipping.

You should be able to buy a new one at the local Honda dealership. If you
want to save money--get it from a junkyard. Even if you don't buy it from
the Honda dealership, pay them a visit and ask the person at parts counter
to look up the part for you in a special book. After he finds it for
you--write down the name of the part. Tell him that you will buy it from
him if you can't get one from a junk yard dealer. Those guys get paid the
same whether they do or do not sell you something.

Hi,

I thought about a cheaper way to fix the problem. Would applying some
plastic cement fix the problem? I am thinking of using the following
plastic cement to mold back the cracked pieces together:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHU34&P=7

The glue is called "Tenax-7r." It is supposed to be pretty good with
plastics. I am brainstorming since I don't want to spend money
unnecessarily. The glue is less than $4.

Thanks!

I used marine grade epoxy and did not last long. I got the parts from the
local Honda dealer around $30 CDN. I have a 1992 Accord EX.
