my 1991 honda prelude wont start

when i go to start it, it sounds like a engine is just running(not the car
engine but like a little engine) is it possible that it is tha starter or
could it be the spark-plugs

Smack the dash while trying again... if it starts, it's just your MAIN
RELAY that needs to be replaced, or re-soldered by a friend who is more
'technical'. Do a google search for 'honda main relay' for more info.

Start by taking off the distributor cap and then having someone watch the
distributor rotor while you try to start the car. Does the rotor turn? If not,
your timing belt has likely failed. (The car's pistons drive the crankshaft
which drives the timing belt which drives the camshaft which drives the
distributor rotor, among other parts.)

If the rotor does turn, get back to the newsgroup.

Not to step on Curly's toes, but more info on the main relay problem appears at
http://www.markl.f9.co.uk/howto/elec...main-relay.htm . Note that
usually this problem manifests itself intermittently. That is, the car will
usually re-start if left to sit long enough. Sometimes it will result in a
chronic no-start, though, so, yes, it could be the main relay. Listen for the
little click like the site above suggests to see if the main relay might be the
problem. I agree it is one of several notorious and frequent causes of engine
non-starts for early 1990s Hondas.
