need to replace muffler from cat back on 1996 Honda Accord
 
getting quoted between $450 to $475 to replace muffler from the
catalytic converter back...

anyone have a sense if that sounds about for a price?

that sounds high priced. what kind of pipes are they using? if it's
stainless steel then it may be the right price. if it's just standard
exhaust pipes then shop around.

Is this OEM from the dealer? If so, and if they're replacing the muffler
AND the B-pipe for that price, that's about right, and keep in mind the
muffler carries a lifetime warranty and lasts about EIGHT years with NO
repairs. Next time you replace it it costs you less than $100. Pretty good
deal.

The OEM "muffler" is one-piece from the B-pipe to the tailpipe. The B-pipe
itself (from cat to muffler pipe join) is a separate item.
