need used parts for 1987 honda prelude
In particular, i need:
the headlight/sunroof open and close switch. my switch is broken but my sunroof otherwise works fine. I might also eventually want some windows. the previous owner (jackass) put that stupid window film on the inside and i want it gone. |

Auto glass shops can remove it for a fee that seems more reasonable after you try it yourself <8^P Removing it from the inside of the rear window is trickiest - few shops will guarantee the defroster will work afterward, although the odds seem pretty good. (If you want to get rid of the film, I bet you aren't in Phoenix!) Mike |

Re: need used parts for 1987 honda prelude
you are the man, MP.
any ideas about the sunroof button? sadly, it appears to be built together with the headlight button and is soldered to a multi-wire connector. as for the film, thanks for the tip! i live in los angeles which is close. the stuff is just so heinous. i can't even see through it. i was considering acetone. ammonia? are you sure? |

Re: need used parts for 1987 honda prelude
I did some googling on it...you can use ammonia, simple green, or
de-ice. you put on the solvent and heat it (either with sun or heat gun) and peel. the point is to peel both layers at once and melt/dissolve the glue. But what about used honda parts....any ideas on that, boss? |

It comes in two forms: straight alcohol and alcohol/glycol mixture. > > But what about used honda parts....any ideas on that, boss? > If you live close to a wrecking yard with lots of Hondas that's your answer. Pull-it-yourself yards often have very good prices, while they-pull-it yards often test parts or offer a 30 day warranty. I've never bought used parts on-line but that may be an alternative. Re: need used parts for 1987 honda prelude
ok i found a salvage yard that has a 1987 honda prelude. I got them to
pull the left hand panel (sunroof open/close and headlight up/down) and the right hand panel (with hazard light and defroster). Total $75. Is that too much or about what I should expect? |
