Good group! I've been a honda owner since 88. Currently have a 99 Accord
LX. 77,000 miles. Wish I could justify shopping for a new one but mine has
been trouble free. I drove a friends 04 Element Ex. Still not sure what it
is 'trying to be'. Excellent V-tec and good build, etc but; I kept asking,
"WHY". Anyway they like it and my experience has been all hondas are
superior to anything else on the road.
I'd like to hear from owners of 03, 04 CR-V's and Pilots. Also new and 1
model older Accords. Good luck everybody.

There was a thread a month ago or so on here about the load capacity of an
Element.
Apparently 500lbs is max. Hope your friends travel light and don't eat much
on the road!

Hi Ed and Linda,

We traded a '90 Accord (after 140K miles) for an '03 CR-V, and find the new
vehicle as solid and smooth as you'd expect from a Honda. We're senior
citizens, and found getting into and out of the low-slung Accord more and
more of a chore. You just "slide" in and out of the CR-V, which is far more
comfortable for the aging bones. The ONLY complaints about the CR-V are a
couple we didn't anticipate: the front leg room is a bit cramped for a long
drive--not apparent on the test drive, unfortunately. And the vehicle is
NOT quiet: engine and road noise intrude. We'd suspected that, but again it
doesn't become a problem until after you've driven for a few hours. We
think now we should have bought the Pilot instead, so now we're looking at
that and the Toyota Highlander as well. (See a recent post in this group
for suggestions and advice about the two.) So the CR-V is a bit snug and a
bit noisy for us old-timers, and we'll soon put it on the market. Except
for these two beefs, it's a fine rig, and I'd recommend to anyone they have
a good look.

Of the Honda vehicles that you mentioned other than the Accord--the Pilot
is the best of the bunch. Don't buy the Element. Honda made it to compete
with the Toyota Scion xB. The Element is poorly designed and could turn
over if you went around a sharp turn too quickly. If you don't like the
Pilot--try one of the SUVs made by Toyota but don't buy the Scion xB.

Of the Honda vehicles that you mentioned other than the Accord--the Pilot
is the best of the bunch. Don't buy the Element. Honda made it to compete
with the Toyota Scion xB. The Element is poorly designed and could turn
over if you went around a sharp turn too quickly. If you don't like the
Pilot--try one of the SUVs made by Toyota but don't buy the Scion xB.

The Element has better skidpad and slalom specs than the Pilot. I'd
certainly prefer to be driving an Element in an accident avoidance
situation.
