new tires for Civic; Micheline Hydroedge?

I got a 2001 Civic LX manual. I like in New England. I've got 32k on the
OEM Firestone FR690 tires which I cannot stand anymore. They suck big
time, I don't remember them being so bad at the beginning, but not I
feel unsafe to drive. When it rains I cannot brake properly and I have
to push the gas pedal *realy* gently when the light turn green,
otherwise the front wheels slip and it makes this horible noise...

I don't want to get winter wires. I am too lazy to change tires. I need
al season, with stelar performance in rain and more than decent
persormance in snow.

The Michelis Hydroedge get 8 in winter and 10 for wet traction and tread
wear. I am not impressed with their warranty (85k), I would be happy if
I get a decent 50k out of them. As I said, safety is paramount, price
and longevity thread wear is not an issue.

Any advice is appreciated. The hydroedge are new and couldn't find a lot
of reviews (and I googled by the way!) The reviews at tirerack all
looked good.

Thanks
