Oil Change 91 Accord
Just got one 91 Accord EX, very good condition, need to do the oil change.
Any recommended brand and type ? Someone told me 5W -30 should be good , I
live in LA, and its summer with tempratures swinging between 70 -80 F.
Also how much qty of oil is reqd.
TIA

The owners manual recommends 5W-30, although during summer I used 10W-30
on mine.
I think the EX might have a rudimentry oil cooler. Look at the base of the
oil filter for 2 small coolant lines.

Re: Oil Change 91 Accord
If you're going to do work on your "new" car, then I suggest you get
at least an official Owner's Manual (I ordered one for my "new" 1995
Nissan from Nissan Publications...perhaps Honda still has yours).
Failing that, get a Haynes Repair Manual (or a Chilton) for your car.
They will tell you that and much more.
For now, go down to your local AutoZone or Pep Boys and page through
one of them (most are shrink-wrapped, some are opened) to find out
your fluid type and capacities...but buy the manual at some point.
Good luck,
John D.

I have a `92 with 214,000 k on it and I use 5w30 mobil 1 all the time and
temps go up to over 100*F here in July and down to -25F-30F in the winter ,
no probs with the engine at all
