prelude 93 automatic upshifting problem (spec in corners)

I have some strange problem with my 93 prelude 2.0i automatic
shifting. Specially in corners it would refuse to upshift and the rpm
goes into the red. In an uphill corner (highway ramp) it will even
actively downshift. With a warmed up car on straights there is no
noticable problem.
Any light on this?

Hans.

I suggest that you take it to the service department of the local Honda
dealership and have them drain out the old fluid and replace it with new
fluid. They should also clean or replace the filter. Before they do this
work, tell the service writer about your problem. The mechanic may be able
to make some minor adjustments to correct the problem. If you have
recently had this type of work done--don' have the same work done again.
Just check the level on the transmission fluid and add new fluid if it is
low.

Specially in corners it would refuse to upshift and the rpm goes into the red.

I had a similar problem with my 1988 Prelude. The problem turned out to be the
lockup solenoids. Measure the resistance of each. Mine were supposed to be in
the area of 10 to 20 ohms. They were about 900 ohms. I replaced them and the
problem went away.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have the fluid replaced at the local
garage. If that doesn't help I'll take it (and my bank account :-)) to
the dealer.
