I'm thinking about getting one because the >paint chips from highway driving are driving me nuts, but I've heard >that they can cause paint problems. >I'm in Canada (around Toronto), so any experiences with these things in >winter conditions would be highly relevant... >Also, I'm thinking of getting it from Majestic Honda online >(www.hondaautomotiveparts.com). Any good/bad experiences with these >guys? I wouldn't bother. Little bits of dirt get under the edges and the movement of the bra causes noticeable scratches on the paint. What also happens is that since some of your paint is going to be shielded from the sun, over time you will have two shades of paint on your car. IMHO, bras cause more problems than they solve. ----------------- Alex __O _-\<,_ (_)/ (_) |

The damage to the paint happens when the nosebra sits on the car too long. Dirt will collect in sections underneath the bra and act like sandpaper on the paint. This is worse if you have it on while driving in rain where even more dirt and grime will collect. I've owned an '86 Acura Integra using the nosebra for over 10 years. The front end was nearly chip free when I sold it. My former '96 Accord's nose and hood were chip free after five years of use (sold the Accord). Currently I use a nosebra on my '01 Acura Integra GSR and '91 Acura NSX. The nose of my 12 year old NSX is virtually chip free. I can only count one or two little rock chips. Others in our NSX club are stunned that the nose is so clean and the original paint. The key here is to use the nosemask ONLY when necessary. Around town, you don't go fast enough to really need one. Yeah, it takes time to put the nosebra on and off but it's only a few minutes. What it boils down to is this. If you're the kind of person that doesn't want to fuss with installing and removing a nosebra all the time, the suggestion is not to use one at all. You'll do more damage to the nose of the car by leaving the nosebra on for prolonged periods of time. |

Or even better, keep an eye out and buy a bra when a bargain happens along. Then wait until you are ready to sell the car and install the bra. It will cover a multitude of sins by that time, and you can tout it as a "plus"! :) |

Especially in winter... when I'm sure it's no fun to put it on or remove it at -15 or -20 celsius!! One thing: do you find that you have to pull it very hard at the ends when you are putting it onto the car? Well, congratulations on your dedication, though... (and on owning an NSX!! :) ) |

(and on owning an > NSX!! :) ) When you get a new nosebra, it will be difficult to put it on and may require a lot of stretching. The best thing to do is to get the nosemask on the car and then leave it exposed in sunlight. The heat will make it expand a bit making it a little easier to put on the the next time. After several uses, it will be easy to put on. Yeah, I'm dedicated and take care of my cars. Real fortunate to have an NSX. Paul |

I use factory OEM nosemasks since they fit the best. In my experience, I found the aftermarket nosemasks fit not to be as good as OEM. |
